Metrology Engineer required to join a market leader in the production of car components. My client is seeking a skilled Metrology Engineer to support dimensional control, measurement systems, and continuous improvement within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment using CMM and GOM.
Available is a competitive salary, excellent prospects and opportunity to join a business who continue to invest in their modern site in Telford.
Hours of work: 8.30 - 5 Mon - Fri (2pm Finish Friday)
Salary: A GBP 45 - 50K
Key Responsibilities:
- Program and maintain CMM (Calypso) and GOM (blue light scanning) systems
- Perform dimensional analysis and support production and NPI activities
- Lead measurement system validation (MSA) and dimensional reviews
- Apply Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and structured problem-solving techniques
- Analyse data using advanced Excel and SPC/Minitab to improve process capability
- Support APQP/PPAP activities and ensure compliance with quality standards
- Drive continuous improvement across metrology and wider operations
Requirements:
- Experience in a manufacturing / automotive environment
- Strong understanding of GD and T and CMM programming or GOM
- Knowledge of Quality Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA)
- Proven problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- Familiarity with IATF 16949
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Current or recent experience as metrology technician, CMM inspector, metrology engineer, CMM technician, CMM inspector, PC-DMIS, Hexagon CMM
Desirable:
- Degree in Engineering or related field
- Six Sigma certification
- Experience with GOM systems, Ziess Inspect, Calypso CMM
