An amazing new job opportunity has arisen for a committed Consultant Child and Young People Psychiatrist to work in an amazing hospital based in Charlwood, Surrey. You will be working for one of the UK’s leading health care providers. This is a low and medium secure hospital specialising in treating male patients aged 18+ who have been detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) and who will benefit from extended treatment and rehabilitation. To be considered for this position you must hold a Full GMC Registration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing referrals and determining appropriateness for admission
  • Conducting admission assessments and maintaining effective management plans of all young people on the unit
  • Conducting risk assessments and reviewing regularly
  • Allocating specialist psychological treatments in line with individual needs
  • Assessing physical health
  • Ensuring effective liaison with referring teams
  • Facilitating regular CPA review meetings
  • Acting as Responsible Clinician for young people detained under the Mental Health Act
  • Involvement in quality, inspections and governance processes

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience of CAMHS Forensic and/or Eating Disorders desirable
  • Relevant experience within a similar setting and working with adults aged 18+
  • Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act
  • Ability to work alongside and lead a multidisciplinary team
  • In-depth knowledge of Mental Health Legislation
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management principles
