Randstad Education is currently recruiting dedicated and empathetic Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistants to join our primary supply team in Leeds. Starting this September, this is an incredible opportunity to provide tailored support to young learners who face barriers to education, all while maintaining a perfect work:life balance.
The Role
As a supply SEND Primary TA, you will work across various mainstream and specialist primary provisions in Leeds, helping children with a range of additional needs access the curriculum and thrive socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Tailored Support: Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils with diverse needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, global development delay, and speech and language difficulties.
- EHCP Implementation: Support the class teacher and SENDCo by working toward the specific targets outlined in a child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Sensory and Emotional Care: Implement sensory breaks, calming strategies, and positive behaviour management techniques when a child feels overwhelmed.
- Inclusion: Adapt classroom resources and activities to ensure every child can participate safely and happily.
Requirements
- Essential: Applicants must have UK experience supporting children with additional needs within a primary school, nursery, or specialised educational setting.
- A deep understanding of different learning styles and a highly patient, compassionate nature.
- Experience with communication aids (such as PECS or Makaton) or behaviour techniques (such as Team Teach) is highly advantageous but not essential.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete a new check through Randstad).
