Location: Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire ST1

Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Office-Based

Are you an organised, proactive and detail-driven individual with experience in purchasing? Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join a busy procurement function based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, supporting the smooth flow of materials and components needed for production. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing products, managing stock levels, expediting orders, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, cost efficiency and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage stock levels and purchasing activity in line with production demand.
  • Action MRP planned purchase orders.
  • Chase order acknowledgements and update the system accordingly.
  • Expedite overdue orders or those requiring forward scheduling.
  • Prioritise and expedite orders required for the next 10 days of production.
  • Communicate supply issues to the Master Planner where production may be impacted.
  • Carry out manual planning as needed, including packaging, timber, and non-BOM requirements.
  • Obtain costs for bespoke items and ensure drawing packs are received promptly.
  • Raise and process purchase orders, ensuring thorough checks on pricing, lead times, stock availability and alternative supply options.
  • Assist with sourcing new suppliers, benchmarking agreements, minimum order quantities and lead times.
  • Support supplier management.

Skills And Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement-related role.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of NPI processes (advantageous).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Confident negotiator with strong commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Experience liaising with internal departments and UK/international suppliers.
