Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Rate of Pay: GBP28 per hour + GBP3.38 accrued holiday pay

Contract: Part-time, with flexible hours

Start Date: September 2026 (for the 2026/2027 Academic Year)

Responsibilities

  • Provide learning support and academic guidance.
  • Create an individual learning plan tailored to the student’s needs and encourage them to become an independent learner.
  • Assist students with the following:
    • Develop independence
    • Build on strengths and learning strategies
    • Create strategies around organisation and time management
    • Create action plans to stay on track with studies
    • Build on research skills by widening knowledge through a variety of sources
    • Distinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
    • Build comprehension skills within reading and writing

Requirements

  • Qualified to undergraduate degree level (level 6 minimum)
  • Have a teaching qualification
  • Have taken extensive training in adult autism

The Extensive Training May Include

  • 6 National Autistic Society Modules (non-medical helper package)
  • OR The Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education — Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies.
