We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well‑established engineering company in Nottingham specialising in bespoke machinery design and manufacture. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead projects from concept through to completion and play a key role in the development of custom‑built mechanical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop bespoke machinery and automated systems using SolidWorks.
- Produce detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and full technical documentation for manufacture.
- Manage projects through the full lifecycle, from concept design and prototyping to testing and final production.
- Liaise with internal teams, including manufacturing, electrical, and production departments, to ensure design feasibility and functionality.
- Conduct design reviews, calculations, and tolerance analysis to ensure performance and reliability.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement within the design process.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in designing bespoke machinery or special‑purpose equipment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (essential).
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver to tight deadlines.
