Huddersfield Hybrid Working (1:2 days weekly in office)

The Role

As a Senior Accountant, you will manage your own portfolio of owner‑managed businesses and SME clients across a variety of sectors. You will act as a trusted adviser, supporting clients with their accounting, tax and business needs while ensuring excellent service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of small business clients from start to finish
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts
  • Preparing and reviewing corporation tax returns
  • Managing VAT returns and management accounts preparation
  • Advising clients on business growth, profitability and tax planning opportunities
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
  • Liaising with HMRC and handling client queries
  • Identifying opportunities to improve client services and add value

About You

We’re looking for someone who is confident, proactive and enjoys working closely with clients.

You Will Ideally Have

  • ACA, ACCA or QBE qualification
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
  • Strong knowledge of accounts preparation and taxation
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Good working knowledge of cloud accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
  • A commercial mindset with a client‑focused approach
