Randstad is in search of a SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a wonderful school in Bristol. This role would suit an individual who wishes to work closely with children needing additional support in the classroom in their learning and progress.

About The Role

This role can be perfect for someone looking for a new and exciting opportunity working in a local SEN school who has experience handling challenging behaviours.

If you are an enthusiastic and talented person with relevant experience to work with children that have SEMH, then this is your next long term role to start ASAP.

This exciting opportunity would include assisting with lesson plans, providing extra assistance to children, and recording and reporting a child’s progress to the teacher.

Your Responsibilities

  • Work on a 1:1 or small group basis with children who have Special Educational Needs
  • Lesson/work planning for the students you are working with
  • Utilise learning schemes in order to progress your students’ learning
  • Report back to parents and teachers regarding the students’ progress
  • Supporting children’s physical, social and emotional well-being
  • Completion of daily records for pupils
  • Classroom preparation for the following school day

Requirements And Skills

  • Experience working with SEN pupils
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Legal right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available with this role)
  • Able to make an impression on both us and our client
  • Previous experience in schools is preferred (must be able to provide 2 recent professional references)
  • Flexibly adhere to the needs of the children in a professional and friendly manner
  • Good classroom management skills
  • Managing challenging behaviour and supporting the class teacher
  • Ability to assist teachers and other staff to create a positive learning environment for children with social, emotional and mental health needs
