Project Overview
We require a Section Engineer for a wastewater and water upgrade scheme in Eastleigh. This role is focused on the practical coordination of site logistics, engineering standards, and subcontractor management to ensure the construction programme remains on track. You will be responsible for bridging the gap between design and site delivery, ensuring all staff are trained, informed, and working to the required safety and environmental procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Logistics and Planning: Develop and manage weekly logistics drawings and programmes. Create 2D CAD drawings for haul routes, walkways, and site services.
- Subcontractor Management: Lead weekly logistics reviews and progress meetings to brief subcontractors on layout changes and upcoming works.
- Technical Oversight: Manage critical activities for EBT handbacks, ensuring setting-out and quality control are completed efficiently.
- Safety and Environment: Conduct regular site inspections to improve SHE standards. Ensure all staff have access to and understand environmental and safety management systems.
- Training: Deliver site inductions and briefings. Ensure the site team receives appropriate training for their specific roles and compliance requirements.
- Productivity: Establish benchmark productivity measures and assess actual progress against the weekly programme.
Requirements
- Education: Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of engineering principles and construction best practices. High level of CAD competence and MS Office.
- Compliance: Valid CSCS card and formal training in Health, Safety, and Environmental management.
- Communication: Strong presentation skills for delivering briefings and managing subcontractor integration.
- Background: Proven experience at Engineer level within civil engineering or water infrastructure.
