Project Manager – Ultra High Voltage (400KV)

Role Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Project Manager to lead the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of grid transformer projects, from design review through installation, commissioning, and close‑out.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure designs meet client requirements.
  • Manage multiple grid transformer projects, including design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE regulations (CDM 2015) and drive a zero‑incident culture.
  • Monitor and enforce quality management processes, including ITPs and inspections.
  • Maintain project schedules, applying forecasting and corrective measures as required.
  • Deliver project costs within budget.
  • Administer contracts, early warnings, claims, and subcontractor/supplier management.
  • Produce monthly contractual reports and project status updates.
  • Identify, record, and mitigate project risks through structured risk management.
  • Serve as primary contact for clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring effective communication and alignment.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation actions.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience in project management, ideally within grid transformer or related infrastructure projects with 400kV experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge in design engineering, transformer installation and commissioning processes, HSE compliance (CDM 2015), quality management systems (ITPs, audits), scheduling (Primavera/MS Project), and cost and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
  • Project Management certification (Prince2, PMP, or APM).
  • NEC3/NEC4 certification (desirable).
  • SMSTS qualification (preferred).
  • National Grid Person certification (advantageous).
