Wolverhampton, onsite

A GBP 35,000 to A GBP 45,000 per annum (Depending on experience)

We are looking for a commercially astute Project Buyer to play a key role in delivering complex projects on time, on budget, and right first time. You’ll sit at the heart of the project team, owning procurement strategy, supplier performance, and contract delivery across the full lifecycle.

Please note: this role requires candidates to hold, or be eligible to obtain, security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement activity across designated projects, aligning cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Partner with Engineering and Project teams to agree specifications, manage long lead items, and reduce supply risk.
  • Manage supplier and subcontractor contracts end to end, including expediting, variation control, and performance reviews.
  • Identify and deliver cost saving and value adding initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
  • Proactively assess and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Support Make vs Buy analysis and contribute to tender activity and early supplier engagement.
  • Build strong, ethical supplier relationships that drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide clear, data led reporting to Project and Supply Chain leadership.

What you will bring

  • Experience in a purchasing or project procurement role, ideally in a project based environment.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycles, contract management, and supplier performance.
  • Proven negotiation skills and experience delivering commercial value.
  • Familiarity with NEC3 / NEC4 contracts (desirable).
  • Knowledge of materials and supply chains within Energy or Construction environments (ideal, not essential).
  • Degree qualified and working towards MCIPS, or MCIPS qualified.
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • IT literate, with solid Excel and Word capability.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and an appreciation of technical or metallurgical concepts (advantageous).
  • Eligible for, or currently holding, relevant security clearance.
