Physical Health Nurse

A fantastic new job opportunity has arisen for a committed Physical Health Nurse to work in an amazing mental health service based in Charlwood, Surrey. You will be working for one of the UK’s leading healthcare providers.
This is a low and medium secure hospital specialising in treating male patients aged 18+ who have been detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) and who will benefit from extended treatment and rehabilitation.
To be considered for this position you must be qualified as an RGN Nurse with an active NMC Pin + Experience in NG Feeding and Phlebotomy
Responsibilities
Facilitating physical healthcare plans/treatments to patients, in order to maintain their optimum level of physical well‑being
Facilitate/support staff to ensure that routine and ad‑hoc tests (e.g. blood screening for Clozapine/Lithium) are carried out as prescribed and the results recorded appropriately within Care notes
Ensure that routine testing for long‑term conditions (e.g. asthma, diabetes) are carried out as prescribed and that the results are recorded appropriately in Care notes and in line with latest national guidance
Lead the development and review of all care plans for physical health, to ensure that patients’ physical health needs have clear interventions, which are being met
Support the clinical team on the ward and cover staff when required
Ensure that all patients have their ECGs as prescribed by the Consultant and that evidence is documented on Care notes
Preferred skills & experience
Minimum of 2 or 3 years post‑registration experience
Experience of training others
An understanding of eating disorders and mental health
Experience of working with young people is desirable
The successful Physical Health Nurse will receive an excellent salary up to GBP37,500 per annum. This exciting position is a permanent full‑time role working Mon:Fri from 9am to 5pm. In return for your hard work and commitment you will receive the following generous benefits:
