Based at our Manchester manufacturing / production site, you will be instrumental in the leadership and delivery of site targets and goals. With a people-first approach, you will bring together continuous improvement and efficiency of both the team and machinery. Working closely with the team to create and implement appropriate KPIs that measure asset performance, which in turn can highlight areas to focus on for continuous improvement.

Job description / Overview: Reporting to the Operations Director, your key tasks include motivating, leading, and engaging a team of approximately 40 in a 24/4 (12 on 12 off shift) manufacturing operation. We emphasize a strong people agenda and seek an individual who values an empowered team and has experience in creating people-first cultures.
This pivotal role is part of the senior leadership team overseeing all aspects of production processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and product quality while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of 40 manufacturing staff, fostering teamwork and excellence.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Manage the department's budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with H&S, Quality, Engineering, R&D, Procurement, and HR to implement best practices, technology upgrades, and process improvements.
- Develop and monitor KPIs to measure performance, with an OTIF target of 95%.
- Prepare and present regular reports on manufacturing performance and initiatives to senior management.
Person requirements:
- Proven track record in a world-class manufacturing environment emphasizing continuous improvement, quality, and leadership.
- Experience with Six Sigma, Lean, or similar methodologies is preferred.
- Experience leading a team of 25+ in multi-shift and unionized environments.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes; experience in chemical, labels, print, textiles, or packaging environments is advantageous.
- Experience in developing a people-first culture and managing a site of similar size (24 assets, 24/4 shifts).
