Health, Safety and Environmental (HS and E) Manager

Permanent full‑time, multi‑site, manufacturing role at a well‑established UK manufacturer. This position offers competitive salary and benefits.

This opportunity is ideal for a proactive, hands‑on HS and E professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams, driving continuous improvement, and influencing a positive safety culture across a multi‑site manufacturing environment.

Reporting directly to the Board, you will play a key role in ensuring legal compliance, maintaining management systems and supporting the business’s ongoing commitment to health, safety and environmental excellence.

The Role

• Lead all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance across three manufacturing facilities.
• Maintain and develop ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems and accreditations.
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, inspections and incident investigations.
• Produce and maintain HS and E documentation, policies and safe systems of work.
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance.
• Advise senior leadership on HS and E strategy, legislation and compliance.
• Deliver employee health, safety and environmental training.
• Mentor Health and Safety Representatives and Fire Safety Representatives while chairing Safety Committee meetings.
• Manage occupational health surveillance programmes through external providers.
• Oversee environmental compliance, including permits, waste management and emissions control.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, local authorities and emergency services where required.
• Manage external contractors and ensure safe working practices across all sites.

• You’ll Ideally Have
• A minimum of five years experience as a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager within a manufacturing environment.
• NEBOSH qualification (essential).
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
• Experience carrying out audits, risk assessments and accident investigations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive, hands‑on approach with a genuine can‑do attitude.
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across several sites.
• Good IT skills and strong report writing ability.
• Flexibility to travel weekly between manufacturing facilities.

Desirable Experience Includes

• Graduate IOSH membership.
• Qualified trainer status.
• Internal Auditor qualification.
