Kickstart your career in recovery support with a structured traineeship at HMP Stoke Heath in Market Drayton, working 31 hours per week. This is a hands-on development role where you’ll learn on the job, supported by experienced practitioners, while gaining the training, supervision, and qualification needed to build a career in recovery services. You’ll be part of a supportive, recovery-focused team, gaining real experience of working with individuals on their recovery journey within a secure setting.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing and planning a caseload with increasing independence
  • Supporting care reviews and working closely with community partners
  • Co-facilitating group programmes and structured interventions
  • Completing risk, initial, and comprehensive assessments
  • Delivering 1:1 sessions and contributing to recovery planning
  • Supporting access to clinical and therapeutic interventions
  • Recording data accurately for audit, reporting, and research
  • Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team

This is a development-focused position designed to build your skills, confidence, and competence in recovery work. You’ll be supported every step of the way while also contributing flexibly to team needs and taking on reasonable tasks as directed by your line manager. All prison-based roles are subject to enhanced DBS checks and HMPPS security vetting. These checks can take up to 5 months to complete. Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of both checks. Please note if you have lived overseas within the last 5 years then checks may take longer.
