Salary: A GBP 30,485 (An allowance of A GBP 5,000 per year is payable, once you are fully qualified as a trainer.)

Job Description

You will deliver quality learning to new Bike Examiners, creating a nurturing environment for delegates to reach their full potential by recognising learning styles, providing support and feedback.

Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Aren't Limited To:

  • Delivering learning products that meet Learning and Development (L and D) standards, policy, Quality Assurance processes, corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Upkeeping the integrity and quality of learning products in alignment with L and D standards and policy.
  • Ensuring accurate completion of handover to the business to enable continuous development where relevant.
  • Collaborating with L and D and wider People and Places Directorate colleagues to foster a team ethos to bring L and D and the People and Places Directorate vision to life.
  • Interacting with external delivery partners as required in alignment with DVSA and L and D standards.

What DVSA requires from you

To train bike examiner candidates, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be willing to work towards building and maintaining relevant experience in driving test delivery and examiner training.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and calmly, even in complex situations.
  • Be able to deliver feedback constructively that others can act on to improve their performance.
  • Able to use judgement to make effective decisions.
  • Give accurate, objective and supportive feedback to improve trainees' performance.
  • Reflect on your own practice and keep your skills up to date as standards, policy and guidance change.

We will train you

Training for this position will be made up of 3 parts:

  • Part 1 is Bike Examiner training.
  • Part 2 is delivering tests and working from your local driving test centre.
  • Part 3 will be our Training for Trainers course.

You must be successful at each stage to progress to the next stage. The Bike Examiner training is pass/fail and your employment will cease if you do not pass. If you are unable to successfully complete the Training the Trainer course within a reasonable timeframe, you may be offered a permanent contract as a Bike Examiner. Parts 2 and 3 are based on continuous improvement, not a pass/fail assessment. We will strive to help you succeed in post.

Person specification

You must have held full Category A UK or EU licence (for Motorcycle) continuously for the last 3 years and must have no more than 3 penalty points. You will be required to provide evidence that you hold any essential qualifications/licenses at some point during the recruitment process. If you cannot provide evidence, your application will be withdrawn.

Qualifications

If you do not already hold the qualifications below, you will be expected to work towards them once in post as part of your training:

  • Authorised by the Secretary of State to conduct the official Category A Driving Test (Examiner Warrant Card).
