Jonathan Lee Recruitment is proud to be supporting our defence client in the recruitment of Military Field Service Vehicle Fitters, with a strong preference for ex-Forces, military leavers, REME-trained personnel. This role is ideally suited to individuals leaving, or already transitioned from, the Armed Forces who are experienced in maintaining, diagnosing and repairing military or heavy vehicles and are comfortable working independently in a field environment.
The Role
- As a Military Field Service Vehicle Fitter, you will be responsible for the in-field maintenance, inspection and repair of military vehicles and associated equipment, operating across MOD sites in and around Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and Buckingham.
- You will work autonomously on customer sites, managing your own jobs, paperwork and technical compliance, very much reflecting a familiar REME-style working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain and repair military vehicles and military equipment in the field.
- Deploy independently to MOD sites, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
- Complete job cards, technical reports, and contractual documentation accurately.
- Ensure all work is compliant with technical standards, statutory regulations, and safety requirements.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance at all times.
About You
This role is well suited to ex-Forces personnel or HGV Technicians or experienced Military Vehicle mechanics, including:
- REME-trained Vehicle Mechanics / Fitters.
- Military Vehicle Technicians or Artificers.
- Service leavers transitioning into civilian defence roles.
Essential / Desirable Experience
- Must be able to pass a BPPS background check leading to SC clearance.
- C and G Heavy Vehicle Repair Level 3 (or equivalent military qualifications).
- Strong background in military vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Experience with inspections, fault-finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Test authorisation for statutory technical tests (desirable).
- Full UK driving licence with Class C (HGV2) minimum.
- Background working on military vehicles, HGVs, plant, construction, agricultural or specialist vehicles.
