Your Role as an LSA
- Differentiating Resources: Adapt standard lessons into simplified worksheets, visual aids, or word banks tailored to individual learner needs.
- Small Group Leadership: Lead breakout sessions, guiding 3–5 students through specific tasks to maintain focus without being overwhelmed by the main classroom pace.
- Promoting Independence: Use the scaffold and fade technique—heavy support initially, gradually stepping back as students gain confidence to work independently.
- Progress Tracking: Maintain clear records of student breakthroughs and hurdles, providing vital data to the Class Teacher and SENCO to inform future lessons.
Essential Requirements
- Academic Confidence: Strong GCSEs (especially in English and Maths) and the ability to explain academic concepts clearly and creatively.
- Proactive Approach: Spot struggling students and intervene before they lose focus.
- Relevant Experience: Experience in university tutoring, coaching, or prior school work, helping others learn.
- Commitment: Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one) and be dedicated to safeguarding.
