Earn great money working as a Controls, Electronic or Electrical Service Engineer to install, commission, fault find and repair instrumentation, PLC control and automation systems for the marine industry. Field based but commutable to Bristol, Liverpool, Newcastle or Maldon in Essex, we offer an excellent basic salary, lots of overtime and great earning potential for an Engineer who is happy to stay away across the UK on one to two week projects at a time.

Role Summary
This is a field‑based Electronic / Electrical Service Engineer vacancy for a well‑established specialist in instrumentation, PLC control and automation systems to the marine industry. The role will be split between (80%) scheduled electrical / electronic installation, commissioning and refit projects – typically staying away for 10‑14 days – and (20%) reactionary fault finding and repair (1‑2 day trips) on first and third party instrumentation, PLC controls and automation equipment or machinery. The majority of work will be in the UK, with occasional international projects, perhaps 6 weeks per year including trips to Australia, Dubai and the USA.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission and refit instrumentation, PLC control and automation systems for the marine industry.
- Perform fault finding, troubleshooting and repair of PLC controls and automation equipment.
- Travel to sites across the UK (10‑14 days per project) and occasionally overseas.
- Maintain good client relationships and work safely and efficiently on site.
Requirements
- Practical, hands‑on engineer with a track record as an electronic or electrical Service / Maintenance Engineer in an industrial setting.
- Good, practical grasp of electronic engineering.
- Experience or understanding of PLC control systems and instrumentation is an advantage.
- Prepared to travel and stay away as required.
