Overview
Join to apply for the Lighting Measurement Engineer role at TipTopJob. Location: Crewe (Fully onsite). Contract Duration: Until 23rd December 2025 (Potential extension). Hours: 35 per week. IR35 Status: Outside IR35. Travel: Some UK travel required. Driving Licence: Required.
Responsibilities
- Perform photometric measurements of lighting components including headlamps, tail lamps, switch packs, interior lights, and ambient lighting systems (both in lab and in-vehicle).
- Manage measurement requests, including requirements verification and scheduling.
- Analyse measurement data and produce detailed, accurate, and professional test reports.
- Calibrate and maintain test equipment, ensuring measurement reliability and audit readiness.
- Maintain and develop dark room and light tunnel facilities.
- Support validation activities and ensure compliance with specification requirements.
- Liaise with engineering, quality, design, and purchasing teams to ensure cross-functional collaboration and issue resolution.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in photometric and optical measurement techniques using spectrometers, goniometers, and imaging colorimeters.
- Strong background in measuring lighting components such as lamps, switch packs, ambient lighting, and display illumination.
- Skilled in writing clear, detailed technical reports and summarising data for stakeholders.
- Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with vehicle network protocols such as CAN and LIN.
- Knowledge of electrical system integration in automotive environments.
- Comfortable working with CAD teams and understanding component design intent.
Qualifications
- HND or higher in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Evidence of successful photometry and physical component validation experience.
