Duties

  • Sitting with students in class to help them get started on their work.
  • Helping the teacher hand out worksheets and get the room ready for the lesson.
  • Working one:on:one with students who find subjects like English or Maths a bit tricky.
  • Keeping students focused on their tasks so they dont get distracted.
  • Making sure the classroom stays tidy and all books are put away at the end.
  • Working with students in small groups to practice reading or simple tasks.
  • Listening to students read and helping them with words they dont know.
  • Helping the teacher keep the class calm and well:behaved.
  • Walking around the room to see if any student needs a bit of extra help.

Skills And Qualifications

  • A University Degree OR a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly valued.
  • A friendly and patient personality so you can support students who find school hard.
  • Clear communication skills so you can talk to teenagers and other staff members easily.
  • The ability to stay calm and helpful even when the classroom gets busy.
  • A real interest in education and helping young people reach their goals.
