Our client is a long-established, family-owned European transport and logistics specialist, headquartered in North Kent and operating across the UK and mainland Europe.
They run a sizeable modern fleet of temperature-controlled and curtainside vehicles, providing full loads, part loads and groupage services for frozen, chilled and ambient goods into and out of the UK.
Their core customer base includes food service companies and manufacturers, and they are now investing in growth across new sectors such as pharmaceuticals, construction and automotive.
Role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their sales career who wants to break into European road freight.
You will be based in the North Kent office with lots of hands-on training and support from an experienced commercial team.
Working alongside senior colleagues, you will help to develop UK:UK, EU:UK and Pan:European road freight business, with a particular focus on temperature-controlled (refrigerated and chilled) services, as well as ambient freight.
You will be following up warm leads, qualifying enquiries and learning how to win and onboard new B2B customers, building your own portfolio over time.
This role would suit someone who wants to be trained properly in road freight sales, with a clear progression path into a full Business Development role.
Responsibilities
- Calling and emailing prospective and existing customers
- Supporting more senior BDMs with quotes and rate proposals
- Helping to prepare presentations and tenders for new opportunities
- Recording activity and pipeline on the internal systems
- Working closely with operations to ensure that what is sold can be delivered smoothly

Salary dependent on experience, plus performance-related incentives.

About You
Some previous experience in a sales, customer service or telesales environment is ideal, but attitude and potential are more important.
A genuine interest in transport, logistics or road freight.
Confident on the phone, able to build rapport and ask good questions.
Motivated by targets and by building long-term customer relationships.
Strong communication and organisational skills, with good attention to detail.
Comfortable working with IT systems (email, CRM, Excel etc.).
This role would suit someone who wants to be trained properly in road freight sales, with a clear progression path into a full Business Development role.
