Our client's school is beautiful and a wonderful place to live and work. It was founded in 1611 and moved to its present magnificent 250-acre site near Godalming in Surrey in 1872. Few schools can offer such a splendid backdrop for teaching and learning, and the school community is very strong, with excellent relationships between pupils and staff.
The Role
The Junior IT Technician will provide end user support to all users on current systems and infrastructure. The Junior IT Technician reports to one of the Senior IT Technicians.
Working Arrangements
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00 (plus one hour unpaid for lunch) throughout the year. Flexibility in working hours is essential; the post may require joining the out-of-hours call-out team. Notice: four weeks during the probationary period (normally six months). Once appointed, both parties must give at least 4 weeks' notice.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing exemplary customer service to staff, pupils, and the wider school community, including third parties when applicable.
- Responding to service requests via email, Helpdesk tickets, phone, or in person, and logging all requests in the helpdesk system.
- Ensuring school IT facilities in various locations are operational, including computers, projectors, and docking stations.
- Providing IT support during lessons in computer rooms and other areas.
- Supporting hardware for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, copiers, peripherals, and phones.
- Supporting software for standard school systems, escalating as needed.
- Building school computers with standard images.
- Installing computer systems across the school.
- Updating helpdesk systems and asset databases regularly.

Demonstrate commitment and compliance to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Skills and Qualifications
The Junior IT Technician will be trained in-house with support from the IT team, expected to maintain up-to-date technical skills including:
- Microsoft OS installation and support
- Microsoft Application Software installation and support
- Apple Mac computers and devices
- Windows 10/11 and Office 365
- Hardware installation and support in a networked environment
Desirable
- Experience supporting AV setups
- Basic knowledge of IP Telephony
- Experience supporting mobile devices such as iPhones, iPads, Android devices
