ROLE : Junior Design Engineer

LOCATION: Cheltenham

TERM: Permanent

SALARY: GBP 27,000 : GBP 32,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client specialises in fabrication for a range of industries, and they are looking to take on a Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Cheltenham area.

They will consider Graduates for this vacancy too.

The Junior Design Engineer will Ideally Have The Following Attributes

  • Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment (Not a necessity)
  • Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo etc.
  • Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
  • Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
  • Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations
  • Any previous experience of working with process machinery or steel / metal materials would be desirable
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proficient using MS Office
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management skills

The Junior Design Engineer Role Will Involve

  • Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
  • Producing 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor CAD software and 2D designs with AutoCAD
  • Liaising with manufacturing providers
  • Being involved in final assembly of products
  • Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
  • Updating 3D models and drawings
  • Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
  • Checking drawings for sign off
  • Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
