Position Summary
Are you looking for a reliable, consistent evening role to supplement your income? We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Janitor to join the facilities team at a professional laboratory and office environment in Birmingham. Unlike a standard cleaning role, you will play a key part in the overall upkeep, presentation, and smooth running of the facility - both inside and out.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Facility Hygiene: Clean and maintain professional laboratories, washrooms, office spaces, hallways, and cafeteria zones to high standards.
- Waste and Materials Management: Perform routine waste disposal, execute recycling services, and ensure regular replenishing of all facility dispensers (paper, soap, and production garments).
- Specialized Projects: Support and complete periodic facility upkeep projects such as stripping/waxing floors and cleaning air diffusers/exhaust grills.
- Exterior Care: Maintain the outside appearance of the building by clearing debris, sweeping walkways, and tidying the designated smoking area.
- Inventory Control: Monitor and maintain stock levels for all essential cleaning and maintenance supplies.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience in a professional cleaning, janitorial, or maintenance role.
- Experience working within a healthcare, laboratory, pharmaceutical, or food processing environment is a massive asset (but not essential).
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and strict hygiene compliance is highly desirable.
Physical and Working Conditions
Routine and repetitive tasks located primarily within a comfortable indoor area. Occasional exposure to mild physical discomforts typical of industrial cleaning (such as dust, cleaning odors, or varied drafts). All required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be fully provided on-site.
