Location: SK14, Tameside. Start Date: ASAP. Pay: £16.00–£18.00 per hour (PAYE or Umbrella). Contract: Full‑time, long‑term, Monday to Friday.

This rewarding Cover Supervisor role will involve delivering pre‑planned lessons, covering classes, supporting teaching and learning, and helping pupils with a range of additional needs achieve their full potential. Class sizes are intentionally small, allowing the successful Cover Supervisor to build meaningful relationships with pupils and provide highly personalised support.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver pre‑planned lessons across KS2 and KS3 when required.
  • Confidently cover classes within a specialist SEND environment.
  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs to access learning successfully.
  • Work closely with teachers, teaching assistants and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs and abilities.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils through consistency, encouragement and patience.
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and independence.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment at all times.
  • Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and contribute positively to the wider school community.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or in a similar classroom‑based role.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND is highly desirable.
  • Confident managing a classroom and delivering pre‑planned lessons independently.
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Flexible, resilient and able to adapt to changing pupil needs.
  • Passionate about helping children with additional needs achieve positive outcomes.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
