Salary: Hourly, dependent on experience and skills + Benefits

Hours: Casual / as and when required with weekend and bank holiday working.

About Ampleforth Abbey:

The Role:

We are seeking a reliable and flexible General Hospitality Assistant to support our hospitality operations across housekeeping, the tearoom, and events. This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people and being part of a supportive team. The position is casual and hours are offered on an as and when required basis. Shifts will include weekends and bank holidays.

Main Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Housekeeping
  • Cleaning guest bedrooms and bathrooms to a high standard
  • Cleaning public areas across the Abbey site
  • Undertaking deep cleaning tasks as required
  • Tearoom
  • Serving hot drinks and food to guests
  • Preparing drinks and light refreshments
  • Clearing and cleaning tables
  • Providing friendly and efficient customer service
  • Events and Functions
  • Assisting with the service of lunches and dinners
  • Supporting guests attending events, retreats, and functions
  • Helping with room set-up and clear-down
  • Directing guest parking and offering general assistance

Skills and Attributes:

  • Reliable and flexible with availability
  • Comfortable working as part of a team
  • Able to work independently when required

Essential Requirements:

  • Own transport is essential due to the Abbey’s remote location
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to undertake physical tasks such as cleaning and standing for periods
