Overview
Healthcare Assistant – Full Time, Temporary to Permanent – Harrow – Immediate or November start. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and caring Healthcare Assistant to join a vibrant special needs school in Harrow, supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex medical needs. This welcoming and well‑resourced school provides exceptional education and care for students aged 4‑19 with a range of learning and physical disabilities. You will become an essential part of a multidisciplinary team, helping pupils to access learning, develop independence, and thrive both physically and emotionally.
Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality personal care, including assistance with feeding, toileting, mobility, and hygiene.
- Support pupils during classroom lessons, therapy sessions, and sensory activities.
- Assist with manual handling and use of specialist equipment such as hoists, wheelchairs, and standing frames (training provided if needed).
- Monitor and record pupils’ health, well‑being, and progress, reporting any changes promptly.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists to ensure holistic care.
- Build trusting relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence, communication, and engagement.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all students.
- Support the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
