We have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to join our growing University, named the Times University of the Year for Social Inclusion 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the University’s Health and Safety management systems and promote safe working practices.
  • Develop and maintain health and safety standards; provide advice and guidance regarding compliance with relevant statutory requirements, legislation and regulations.
  • Policy development, performing health and safety audits, supporting investigations, reviewing and undertaking risk assessments and DSEs.
  • Lead or participate in working groups for delivery of specific health, safety and wellbeing projects.
  • Prepare and present Health and Safety reports.
  • Design and deliver effective health and safety and related training, including staff health and safety inductions.

Qualifications

  • Chartered member of IOSH or equivalent body and must have NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety as a minimum.
  • Experience of UK health and safety best practice and legislation along with relevant practical experience in managing health and safety in the workplace.
  • Experience in Higher Education is advantageous but not essential.
