We are seeking a Head Chef for a characterful pub located in the heart of Harrow on the Hill. This traditional pub offers a busy bar, a raised beer garden, private event space, and a kitchen that serves lunch, dinner, and Sunday trade. The food style is classic British pub cooking with seasonal specials and hearty dishes.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the kitchen and lead the team day-to-day.
- Maintain high standards across regular service, busy weekends, Sunday lunch, events, and seasonal periods.
- Deliver consistent food across lunch, dinner, and Sunday service.
- Maintain strong kitchen standards, cleanliness, and food safety.
- Manage ordering, stock control, GP (gross profit), waste, and labour.
- Support menu development, specials, and seasonal changes.
- Work closely with the General Manager and wider team.
- Create a calm, organised, and positive kitchen culture.
Qualifications:
- Experience in a fresh food pub, gastropub, brasserie, or quality casual dining background.
- Understanding of running a busy pub kitchen while keeping food consistent and commercially controlled.
- Strong fresh food background.
- Knowledge of classic British pub food and seasonal cooking.
- Ability to manage GP, stock, ordering and waste.
- Experience with Sunday lunch and busy weekend trade.
- Leadership style that provides structure, care, and clear standards.
