Location: Harlow

Hours: Mon–Thu 7:00am–4:00pm and Fri 7:00am–12:00pm (early finish). Flexible working considered; hybrid/WFH options may be available. Salary negotiable depending on experience up to £50,000 per annum. Interviewing ASAP.

About the Opportunity

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are supporting a rapidly growing precision engineering business based in Harlow. Due to continued expansion and a strong order book exceeding £10m, the company is seeking an experienced Production Control Manager to strengthen its operations team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, fast-paced manufacturing environment producing high precision, complex machined components, including exotic materials, for demanding industries. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring on-time delivery, efficient planning, and seamless communication across the business and with customers.

Role Purpose

The Production Control Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and control of all production activities. The role ensures that customer demand is met on time, capacity is optimised, and communication remains clear and proactive. Acting as a key link between production, sales, supply chain, and customers, you will balance operational capability with commercial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute production plans aligned with customer demand and business priorities
  • Monitor schedules and adjust plans based on material availability, demand changes, or operational constraints
  • Ensure adherence to lead times, delivery dates, and service levels
  • Manage labour, equipment, and facility capacity for short-, medium-, and long-term planning
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions such as rescheduling, overtime, outsourcing, or investment proposals
  • Maximise utilisation of resources while balancing cost, quality, and delivery
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding schedules, order status, and delivery commitments
  • Provide timely updates on lead times, delays, and recovery plans
  • Work with sales and customer service teams to manage expectations and resolve issues
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, procurement, and logistics to ensure plans are achievable
  • Participate in S&OP and demand planning processes
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy and operational efficiency

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and capacity management
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical mindset with strong decision-making ability
  • Effective problem-solving able to manage competing priorities
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and planning tools

Qualifications And Experience

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Proven experience in production planning, production control, or manufacturing management
  • Experience in customer-facing operational roles is highly desirable
  • Background in precision engineering or machining environments is advantageous
