The Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and precision-focused Grader Operator to join a Tier 1 energy infrastructure project on the Isle of Skye. This is a critical role centered on the creation and maintenance of high-spec access roads and the final precision leveling of transmission tower foundation pads across challenging mountainous terrain. You will be a key part of the earthworks team, ensuring all surfaces meet strict engineering tolerances in a high-intensity, safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Precision Grading: Executing fine grading for structural tower pads and heavy-duty access tracks to exact engineering specifications.
- GPS Operation: Working independently to 3D models using Topcon or Trimble GPS systems to achieve millimeter-perfect finish levels.
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Managing and maintaining site haul roads to ensure the safe movement of heavy plant and delivery vehicles in all weather conditions.
- Terrain Management: Navigating and shaping challenging ground conditions, including rock and peat, while maintaining drainage falls and batters.
- Safety and Compliance: Conducting daily plant checks and adhering strictly to Tier 1 safety and environmental protocols.
Requirements
- CPCS or NPORS Grader Operator Ticket: Must be valid and include the CSCS logo.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience operating modern graders with 3D GPS control systems (Trimble/Topcon).
- Major Project Experience: Previous background in large-scale civils, wind farms, or highways infrastructure is essential.
- Compliance: Must hold a valid Safety Critical Medical.
- Reliability: Ability to commit to the 14 on, 7 off rotation (including weekends during the on shift).
