An excellent opportunity for a Marine Insurance Solicitor to join a growing and internationally recognised marine team handling complex and high-value disputes across the global shipping and insurance markets.
The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Marine Insurance Solicitor to join a highly regarded marine practice in London, acting for a broad international client base including insurers, P and I clubs, shipowners, charterers, freight forwarders and commodity traders. You will advise on a wide range of marine insurance and shipping disputes, including coverage disputes, recovery actions, charterers' liability claims, reinsurance matters and international trade disputes. The caseload will also include wet and dry shipping matters such as salvage, collision, general average, charterparty disputes, ship sale and shipbuilding disputes. The role will involve supporting on complex and high-profile claims, assisting with policy drafting and working closely with senior lawyers on technically challenging matters across multiple jurisdictions. You will also be encouraged to become involved in networking and business development activity as part of a collaborative and growing team. Hybrid working is supported.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor with at least two years' post-qualification experience gained within a recognised marine or shipping practice. You will have experience handling marine insurance litigation matters and a strong understanding of shipping disputes and marine insurance principles. Exposure to court procedures and arbitration, particularly LMAA arbitration, will be advantageous. Strong drafting and analytical skills, commercial awareness and the ability to work effectively within a team environment are essential. Additional language skills would be beneficial but are not a requirement.
