Randstad is proud to partner with the University to deliver exceptional, clinical mental health support that directly impacts student well-being and academic retention. We are seeking highly qualified, BACP-accredited counsellors to join our team for the upcoming academic year.

In this role, you will deliver professional, short-term, solution-focused therapeutic interventions, empowering students to navigate the unique pressures of university life, manage complex mental health challenges, and achieve their full personal and academic potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Intervention: Provide tailored, 1:1 short-term therapeutic counselling utilizing evidence-based, brief analysed models (e.g., CBT, SFBT).
  • Caseload Management: Support students facing a wide spectrum of presenting issues, including academic life cycle pressures (dissertation stress, exam anxiety, procrastination, and study-related blockages), personal growth challenges (identity, transition, self-esteem, and relationship dynamics), and clinical presentations (anxiety, depression, and eating concerns).
  • Outcomes Monitoring: Systematically administer and interpret clinical outcome measures (including CORE10) to track treatment effectiveness and inform clinical decision-making.
  • Safeguarding and Risk Management: Strictly adhere to institutional risk assessment and safeguarding protocols, ensuring swift and appropriate escalation of complex, high-risk cases.
  • Professional Conduct: Maintain absolute client confidentiality in full compliance with GDPR and ethical frameworks.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements)

  • Accreditation: Accredited membership with the BACP (MBACP Accredit).
  • Clinical Experience: A minimum of 400 post-qualification clinical hours, with a proven track record of managing a regular, structured caseload.
  • Sector Expertise: Prior experience providing clinical support within a UK Higher Education setting, including familiarity with university administrative and referral pathways.
  • Modality Proficiency: Strong experience utilising brief, solution-focused, or manualised therapeutic models.
  • Compliance and Safety: Evidence of ongoing regular clinical supervision and a valid professional liability insurance policy.
