Pattern: 40 hours per week, from 8:00am to 5:00pm, with a 30: minute lunch break.

Flexibility is required to work additional hours when needed.

Approved overtime will be paid at 1.5 times the standard hourly rate.

Our clients include leading retail, manufacturing, warehouse and distribution businesses together with local authorities, hospitals, shopping centres, garden centres and recyclers.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct installation, maintenance and repair of compactors, balers and related machinery at customer sites.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults and implement effective solutions.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Collaborate with customers to provide technical guidance, operational training, and support.
  • Maintain accurate service reports including parts used, repairs completed, and recommendations.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and troubleshoot equipment failures in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the Technical Manager to innovate and improve service procedures and equipment reliability.
  • Work with manufacturers technical departments to trouble shoot issues and find resolutions.
  • Ensure parts stock on the van is recorded and that sufficient parts are kept minimise repeat visits.
  • Maintain good communication with all parts of the business including the sales team to ensure the highest level of customer service.
  • Ensure hand tools and equipment used is maintained and in good condition.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies at all times including customer on site requirements.

Requirements

About you

  • Certification in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and manage multiple service calls efficiently.
  • Competence in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent problem: solving skills and hands: on technical aptitude.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with clients and colleagues.
  • 3 years experience in a similar role.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certificate in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering.
  • Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel for site visits.
  • Knowledge of retail, waste management, recycling, or industrial equipment sectors.
  • Experience in fabrication, welding or preventative maintenance programs.
