Location: Brighton

Salary: Grade 7 starting at A GBP 38,249 to A GBP 45,413 per annum, pro rata if part time.

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours. Requests for flexible working options will be considered (subject to business need).

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join their innovative Student Wellbeing Team. The role of the Faculty Wellbeing Consultant is to bridge their Academic Faculties and central Wellbeing Services with the aim of providing expert consultation and improved communication between central support services and the schools. You will be joining them at a time when you can influence the roles development to ensure maximum effectiveness. The University has recently signed up to the Mental Health Charter and these proactive roles will provide an embedded source of expertise in student mental health, within the Academic Faculties to help progress their associated strategic and operational aims.

About You

You will have some kind of mental health or social care qualification and/or equivalent experience. Some experience of managing mental health crises is desirable, as is a calm and resilient approach to high pressure situations. You will have the ability and confidence to communicate effectively with and train all levels of professional and academic staff in academic Schools whilst maintaining professional boundaries with both students and staff. You will need the confidence to work independently and to support other team members. Ideally, you will have some experience and/or understanding of working within Higher Education. A meticulous and disciplined approach to administration is required to maintain their case management systems.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Educated to a minimum of degree level, or other equivalent qualification
  • Excellent presentation, report writing and data management skills. Effective IT Skills on MS platform. Experience using functional databases
  • Well:developed oral and written communication skills with the ability to present policy and procedure in a way that can be understood the audience.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a small team and on own initiative
  • Planning and organisational skills, including project management with the ability to manage a complex workload.
  • Well:developed interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport and effectively influence in area of expertise, effectively contribute to team working to build and develop working relationships.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to generate effective solutions and make effective decisions
  • Willingness to collaborate and work in a flexible way to support service delivery as required.
  • Experience of direct work offering advice, guidance and support to clients experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties.
  • Sensitivity to the circumstances of students, including cultural awareness and an understanding of the lives of different groups of students. Actively promotes inclusion, equality, and diversity.
  • Ability to advise in crisis situations if necessary.
  • Effective planning and organisational skills, including project management
