Location: West Yorkshire (Site-Based)

Day Rate: GBP 350 - GBP 400

Contract Length: 3-6 Months (Potential Extension)

Start: Mid/Late May

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Environmental Manager / Advisor to support a major, high-performing industrial facility in West Yorkshire. This large-scale energy-from-waste operation processes over 700,000 tonnes of material annually and generates significant power output, operating 24/7. The site forms part of one of the largest facilities of its kind in the UK, with strong internal expertise and established processes.

Role

  • Managing environmental permits and ensuring site compliance
  • Handling day-to-day environmental issues on-site
  • Supporting reactive and emergency environmental incidents
  • Completing periodic reporting (e.g., quarterly returns)
  • Investigating complaints (e.g., dust, local impact) and driving resolution
  • Providing environmental advice to operational teams
  • Ensuring issues are resolved quickly to minimise risk

This is an operational role, not strategic, focused on keeping the site compliant, organised, and running efficiently.

About You

  • Experience in highly regulated environments (energy, waste, infrastructure, heavy industry)
  • Strong knowledge of environmental permitting and compliance
  • A practical, hands-on approach to site-based delivery
  • Ability to manage reactive issues and stakeholder concerns
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment
  • Ability to work independently, with support from a wider environmental team

This role would suit an Environmental Advisor or Manager with a strong delivery mindset, particularly those with contractor experience.

Working Pattern

  • Ideally 5 days on-site, flexibility down to 3 days
  • Site-based role (not remote)
  • Flexibility on which days are worked on-site
