An independent, well-established planning and design consultancy is seeking an Assistant Town Planner to join its growing team in Swindon. Operating for over three decades, this multidisciplinary consultancy has built a strong reputation for delivering planning, architecture and environmental services across the UK. Their work spans residential, commercial, education and mixed-use developments, supporting clients from early feasibility through to delivery. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team environment where planners work closely with architects, urban designers and environmental specialists on a wide variety of projects.

The Role

You will support senior planners across multiple projects, gaining exposure to all aspects of the planning process.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals
  • Undertaking site appraisals and planning research
  • Preparing reports and supporting documentation
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
  • Supporting project coordination within a multidisciplinary team

About You

  • RTPI-accredited degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (or working towards)
  • Some relevant experience, such as a placement year or previous role in consultancy or local authority
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn
