Role Overview:

We are looking for a calm, adaptable and methodical Engineering Cost Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to ensure all aspects of aircraft contracts and MOD servicing schedules are accurately costed, and revised as emergent work is determined.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysing Ministry of Defence (MOD) aircraft major servicing schedules and contracts to prepare cost estimates based on the information required.
  • Seeking further information or clarification as required.
  • Accurately assess labour, parts, tooling, materials and subcontracted tasks for each project and their associated costs.
  • Coordinating with relevant teams to gather necessary technical data and relevant input for accurate cost projections.
  • Reviewing scope of work, maintenance requests, service bulletins (SBs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and manuals to ensure the full scope of work has been captured.
  • Ensuring compliance from a costing perspective with regulatory authorities (MAA, CAA) and internal quality processes.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact, both internal and external, during the contract quoting process, addressing any questions, concerns or clarifications regarding costings.
  • Monitoring project costs to ensure alignment with the original cost estimates.
  • Investigating any deviations from the original quote and provide recommendations for cost adjustments if necessary.
  • Being aware of, and analysing the engineering risks associated with the works being costed.
  • Costing emergent works as they are identified.
  • Responding to MOD component/ parts supply enquiries as appropriate.
  • Completion of accurately costed Task Authorisation Forms (TAFs).
  • Develop and maintain cost databases and historical data for future reference and cost accuracy.
  • Providing reports both internally and externally as required.

About You:

Ideally you will come from an Aviation / Military Aviation background with the following attributes:

  • Experience of UK military aviation servicing and maintenance schedules.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in an aviation contract costing environment.
  • Strong technical understanding of aircraft systems, maintenance procedures and regulatory requirements (MAA and CAA), ideally with some previous hands-on experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to effectively interact with internal and external teams.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
