The Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer (LTD) to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of a major water treatment project, working in partnership with Southern Water. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to a critical infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Engineering & Project Management: Manage upcoming HV/LV works, including HV/LV transformers and associated distribution/switching equipment, LV generators, and associated switchgear. Coordinate contractors and designers, program activities, review method statements, interrogate designs, and scopes of work. Ensure all electrical works are completed safely, on time, and to the required standards. Contribute to the overall project planning, scheduling, and budget management.
- Technical Expertise & Compliance: Ensure electrical systems comply with relevant regulations, standards, and Southern Water specifications. Provide technical support and guidance to the project team, subcontractors, and Southern Water representatives.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation, including electrical drawings, specifications, test reports, and handover documents. Provide regular progress reports and updates to the project manager. Contribute to the development and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and procedures, including working in confined spaces, wearing personal protective equipment, and following company safety protocols. Ensure all work is performed in a safe and compliant manner.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an Electrical Engineer on water treatment or related infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of HV/LV systems, including transformers, distribution, and switching equipment, and associated safety protocols.
- Experience with LV generators and associated switchgear.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., IET Wiring Regulations, BS 7671).
- Experience with construction documentation, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Desirable:
- Experience working with Southern Water or other water utilities.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and control systems used in water treatment plants.
- Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile).
