Salary: Scale F: Starts at GBP 34,662 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of GBP 40,383 per annum (37 hours per week)

About the Role

Successful applicants will design and deliver driver training and development interventions to ensure police officers, staff and other members of the force meet the required knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviour standards. Desirable attributes include previous emergency‑response driving experience or ADI qualifications. After the Expression of Interest, shortlisted candidates will be invited to assessment drives, deliver a short presentation and attend a formal interview structured around the personal qualities listed on the role profile and the College of Policing Driving, National Policing Curriculum.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver instruction for all levels of police driving courses, following the College of Policing syllabus and force policy.
  • Prepare and instruct in various categories, with potential to develop into specialist training courses.
  • Complete all appropriate course administration.
  • Ensure all police officers and staff receive correct training to meet driving standards.
  • Ensure officers and staff drive vehicles to an approved standard.
  • Ensure officers and staff meet required standards in accordance with force policy and College of Policing licensing.
  • Test and assess students, deliver skills coaching, and advise on training and development, including internal routes and external qualification routes.
  • Ensure students meet operational standards and work accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain records for lesson plans, courses, correspondence, reference materials and course content, in line with departmental requirements.
