A fantastic School in Central London is looking to appoint a team of tutors who are interested in working with the school on behalf of the National Tutoring Program, aiding students whose learning has been disrupted by the pandemic. The role is open to Science graduates who are passionate about working with young people, or teachers who would like to take on a role with less responsibility.

The duties involve inspiring, motivating and increasing attainment and participation in core subject areas.

Responsibilities
  • Work as a Science tutor with an undergraduate degree in Science or a related subject.
  • Collaborate with school staff to select students for mentoring.
  • Discuss the aims of mentoring with pupils.
  • Support pupils inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Agree and write action plans.
  • Occasionally make home visits to talk to parents about issues and offer advice about strategies to deal with problems.
  • Liaise with schools, teachers, social workers and educational psychologists and make referrals where appropriate.
  • Aid pupils with the transition to secondary education.
  • Help pupils increase their confidence and self-esteem by listening to them and devising appropriate strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Science graduate or Science teacher.
  • Undergraduate degree in Science or a related subject.
  • Experience as a mentor or tutor in a school setting, private tuition company, or at university.
  • Passionate about working with young people and able to work independently.
