I am delighted to be working with this 5* property in Central London. This hotel offers unique guest experiences and seamlessly blends charm and hospitality across the board, and we are looking for a Director of Engineering to join them. This role is all about the people and place. A balance between developing a team and ensuring that standards are kept high.

Leadership

  • Be present, lead from the front and build a respectful culture and structure in the team.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Including fire safety, Statutory Servicing and Auditing.
  • Document tracking and logging and integrating frameworks.

Budget awareness

  • CAPEX / P and L: contract negotiation for one-off jobs and rolling annual contracts.

Understanding Luxury environment

  • 5*, guest experience is paramount.
  • Being presentable and greeting people, not rushing to get things done, instead being sympathetic to the live environment, prioritising tasks effectively.

Strong Engineering knowledge

  • HVAC, BMS, Electrical switchgear: frequency and testing.

Qualifications / Experience

  • NEBOSH qualified.
  • 10 years experience leading engineering teams in a Hospitality / Hotel Setting.
  • Qualified in an Engineering discipline.
  • Flexible, approachable, visible.
  • Highly organised with solid experience across PPM, Contractor Management and Asset lifecycle.
  • Excellent financial management skills: budgets, negotiations, cost saving.
  • Happy to be hands on in a role: swiftly remedy faults and be first point of contact.
  • Exceptional H and S knowledge: promoting a culture of safety.
  • Great stakeholder management skills: at all levels.
