Our client has been established for almost 40 years and are recognised market leaders in the design and development, manufacture and distribution of an impressive portfolio of solutions for supply throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced DFM Manager / Manufacturing Engineering Manager to complement their dynamic and professional team and be responsible for the design, development and implementation of improvements to the manufacturing and assembly processes.
Based near Coleshill and reporting to the Design and Technical Manager, the successful DFM Manager / Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing processes, from design and implementation to optimization and improvement, ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, cost-effectively, and to high quality standards in a safe way, as well as for the daily first line management of the team.
Core areas of this varied and challenging role will include (but not be limited to):
- Process Design and Optimization - developing and implementing efficient manufacturing processes and procedures, designing and testing new equipment, processes and systems, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs, and optimizing existing manufacturing processes for improved quality, speed, and cost-effectiveness.
- Project Management - managing manufacturing engineering projects, including capital and process development projects and ensuring on-time within-budget delivery, whilst managing resources, including personnel and equipment, effectively.
- Team Leadership and Management - leading and mentoring a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians and providing technical guidance and support.
- Quality Assurance - ensuring manufacturing processes meet quality standards and specifications and implementing QC measures to identify and correct defects, driving continuous improvement activities to enhance product quality and process reliability.
- Budget Management - managing the department's budget, including capital expenditures and operating costs.
- Safety and Compliance - ensuring all manufacturing operations comply with safety regulations and environmental standards whilst promoting a strong safety culture within the manufacturing facility.
- Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing - identifying and implementing opportunities for CI in manufacturing processes and procedures and keeping abreast of the latest lean manufacturing technologies, methodologies and best practices.
It is envisaged that the successful DFM Manager candidate will be qualified to at least HND level or above in a relevant mechanical engineering design or manufacturing discipline with at least 5 years previous experience of working within a Manufacturing Engineering Manager position. You will possess 3D CAD modelling software (Creo Parametric) and SAP experience with knowledge of metal manufacturing processes and of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals proving distinctly advantageous. You will also hold a full UK driving licence as occasional site and supplier visits will be required in both the UK and abroad.
