We are looking for an experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to support the Nursery Manager in a high-quality, 30-place private nursery near Summertown, Oxford. The successful candidate will provide professional leadership and management of the nursery and its staff, and support day-to-day running of the nursery, delivering high-quality standards of care and education for all children.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a high standard of quality within the nursery, including practice, environment and resources to meet Early Years Foundation Stage requirements.
  • Support the Nursery Manager in ensuring effective leadership, high performance and a smooth running collaborative environment; manage the nursery in the manager’s absence.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance by all staff.
  • Provide leadership and support to staff to establish positive working relationships with colleagues, parents and carers.
  • Ensure appropriate planning and assessment is in place and maintained by all staff.
  • Support the development of good practice regarding special educational needs and inclusion.
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring all staff understand their roles and responsibilities toward safeguarding, keeping children safe and following procedures.
  • Implement and support delivery of the EYFS in line with current practice and guidelines.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring all staff receive training.
  • Support compliance for suitably trained and vetted staff with relevant qualifications.
  • Assist in managing capacity and occupancy levels, follow up on all enquiries for childcare places, including booking parent tours around the nursery.
  • Attend all out-of-hours activities: staff meetings, manager meetings, training, parents evenings, nursery events.
  • Be a keyholder for the nursery.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 3 Childcare Qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience organising the smooth running of a nursery with more than 55 places.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and current Ofsted statutory guidance.
  • At least one year recent Deputy Nursery Manager relevant experience.
