The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of criminal defence matters, including attending police stations and representing clients at the Magistrates' Court. The role will involve assisting with Crown Court cases where appropriate, participating in the duty rota including out-of-hours work, and working closely with experienced colleagues on case preparation. The successful applicant is expected to deliver high-quality, timely and robust legal advice to clients at all times.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor with current Duty Solicitor Accreditation, essential for this role. Candidates should have experience handling criminal matters, either during training or post‑qualification, and be confident attending police stations and representing clients before the Magistrates' Court. Strong advocacy skills, the ability to work effectively under pressure, and a commitment to excellent client care and professional standards are essential. The successful applicant will also possess excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to their work, and a willingness to participate in the out-of-hours duty rota.
