Overview: Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are recruiting for a Regulatory Officer to support compliance activities within a regulated chemical manufacturing environment, based in Swindon, Wiltshire. This role plays a key part in ensuring products are manufactured, tested and distributed in line with UK, EU and international regulations. The position offers flexibility to suit the successful candidate, including hybrid or remote working arrangements, with occasional visits to an overseas manufacturing facility.
The Role: Reporting to a senior technical leader, you will act as a key link between internal teams, external partners and regulatory authorities. You will help identify, manage and mitigate regulatory risk, ensuring ongoing compliance with legal, customer and internal requirements.
- Prepare and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for finished products and intermediates
- Manage raw material SDS records
- Create and maintain CLP/GHS and transport hazard labels
- Support UK and EU REACH compliance, including substance calculations, volume tracking and liaison with Only Representatives
- Conduct restricted substance checks against regulatory and customer requirements
- Assess raw materials and assign internal and commodity codes
- Complete IMDS calculations and data entry (Automotive Substances of Concern / End-of-Life Vehicle Regulations)
- Carry out VOC calculations
- Maintain and manage regulatory databases (Excel-based)
- Monitor national and international regulatory changes and emerging legislation
- Manage and support regulatory inspections
- Review company practices and advise on necessary system or process changes
- Liaise directly with regulatory authorities as required
Skills And Experience Required:
- Experience working in a regulatory or compliance role within chemicals, coatings or manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, including REACH, GHS/CLP and relevant environmental and safety legislation
- Ability to interpret complex scientific and legal information
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills, with confidence engaging internal stakeholders and external authorities
- Experience supporting or preparing for regulatory audits and inspections
- Proficient in Excel and documentation management
Qualifications (Desirable):
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or a related discipline
- Additional regulatory or compliance qualifications are beneficial
- Certifications such as ISO 9001, RAPS RAC, or HACCP are advantageous but not essential
