This role is ideal for an Electrical Design Engineer with 3+ years of consultancy experience, looking to take on greater project ownership and further develop their technical expertise within a collaborative and multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Collaborating with team members to develop innovative and efficient electrical designs.
  • Conducting calculations and preparing technical documentation for ongoing projects.
  • Attending client and project meetings to discuss design progress and address any challenges.

Responsibilities

As an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high: quality electrical building services designs across a diverse range of projects, including residential, education, heritage, healthcare, commercial, and community developments.

  • Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Producing electrical building services designs and calculations.
  • Developing designs from concept through to detailed design stages.
  • Creating electrical layouts, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Performing cable calculations, load schedules, and preparing electrical specifications.
  • Designing lighting systems and performing associated calculations.
  • Collaborating closely with mechanical and public health engineers.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and other consultants to ensure project success.
  • Conducting site surveys and attending project meetings.
  • Managing your workload across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and apprentices.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need

  • 3+ years experience in electrical building services consultancy.
  • A degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of BS7671 and current Building Regulations.
  • Proven experience delivering electrical designs across multiple RIBA stages.
  • Proficiency in Auto CAD.
  • Experience with Amtech or Electrical OM.
  • Familiarity with DIALux and/or Relux for lighting design.
  • Revit MEP experience (desirable but not essential).
  • A solid understanding of electrical building services systems.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • The ability to manage your workload effectively and take ownership of projects.
