Overview
Location: Telford, Shropshire. Salary: to GBP55k + GBP4,800 car allowance + generous overtime.
Our Telford based client is established for almost 20 years and provides hardware and software design, robot systems integration and commissioning for bespoke automation solutions across the UK. They are seeking two experienced Field based Controls Service Engineer professionals to support Siemens PLC controlled automation solutions remotely and at customer sites throughout the UK.
Responsibilities
- Provide a combination of planned preventative and reactive service and repair activities, including out of hours standby support on a fortnightly around-the-clock rota.
- Initially provide remote or telephone assistance; escalate repairs to on-site visits where required.
- Maintain a full UK driving licence and be flexible to travel as required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and complete detailed service action summaries for future visits.
- Demonstrate strong problem solving across multiple engineering disciplines with exhaustive Siemens PLC fault finding, modification and debugging skills; hardware fault finding and resolution (e.g., damaged cable repair, faulty device replacement) from site spares.
- Support fellow team members and contribute to team activities as needed.
Qualifications
- At least 3+ years of experience with Siemens TIA Portal.
- Experience in Profinet fault finding is advantageous.
- Experience working in highly automated environments is beneficial.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills at all levels.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
