Role Summary
Commercial Officer to join a busy commercial team supporting complex defence and engineering contracts.
Opportunity to work across the full contract lifecycle—from bid support through to contract delivery and completion—while developing commercial and contractual expertise in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial aspects of major contracts and act as a key commercial contact.
- Support the full contract lifecycle including tendering, contract award, changes, delivery, and close‑out.
- Prepare, review and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and commercial agreements.
- Collaborate with bid and sales teams to provide commercial input into proposals and tenders.
- Ensure contractual obligations are flowed down to suppliers where required.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and support the development of appropriate strategies.
- Attend customer and supplier meetings to provide commercial guidance.
- Advise internal stakeholders on commercial matters and contract compliance.
- Assist with development and maintenance of commercial processes, templates, and governance documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a Commercial Officer, Contracts Officer, or Contract Management role.
- Experience working within defence, aerospace, manufacturing, engineering, or another highly regulated industry is advantageous.
- Strong experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing commercial contracts.
- Knowledge of contract management principles and commercial risk.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Proactive approach with strong problem‑solving and negotiation skills.
- Understanding of export regulations beneficial but not essential.
- Additional Requirements
Candidate must obtain Security Clearance (SC) and sign the Official Secrets Act before commencing employment.
